IPA Launches New Editorial Suite

At NewsTec 2005, IPA Systems Limited launched their new premier Editorial System, NewsSuite, which is ideally suited to meet the requirements of medium to large size publishers and the newspaper market.

Already established in over 120 newspapers throughout Europe including many prestigious titles such as Rheinische Post with a 450 seat system across multiple offices. This system is now available for the U.K publishing marketplace.

NewsSuite
is a new XML based integrated publishing solution. The central core of editorial functions are fully integrated with additional applications that provide optimised production planning and tracking, editorial page makeup, online e-edition, media asset management, sport league table management and fee accounting. NewsSuite is a transparent and intuitive working environment that provides editors with efficient access to all data in the system.

The production planning tools combine with the NewsSuite modules, optimising the integration of the database with programs directly involved in production. The editorial system seamlessly interfaces with the ad formatting system and tracking system, which enables editors to get editions to print quickly and easily.

Page One is the DTP WYSIWYG editor that is used throughout the system. It provides editorial staff with a solution for every task, from the creation of articles based on templates through to designing complex collective pages. Page One provides comprehensive typographical functions, including access to libraries and archives of graphical and typeset elements and commands for a wide range of typesetting features. All articles, pictures, pages, agency images and bulletins can be accessed effortlessly. The use of stored editions and full integration of both the editorial system and the ad system accelerates transfer of part or completed pages to the editors.

The editorial online modules provide publishers with easy to use tools for editing material off site and via the Internet. Editors can delegate articles to colleagues, sub editors and contract reporters, who simply need access to a web browser interface. The Web Reporter can be used "in the field" or in the home office environment. Even small local editorial offices can be linked to the system, as all the latest data is sent to and from the editorial system via the Web, thus avoiding delays. The Web Reporter enables articles created for printed media also to be used online.

E-Edition provides a browser-based solution that enables daily newspaper editions to be reproduced 1:1 on the Internet. Today, some publishers have launched new sales platforms on the Internet, e.g. a newspaper subscription can be ordered in the form of an exact copy of the printed edition. This provides Internet access to the latest editions including everything from leader to small ads.

MediaStore the media asset management system is based on an open publishing server and is a new concept for publishers, multimedia companies and printers. MediaStore combines picture, audio, video and document editing with archiving procedures in a single production system that automates the production process. This provides a simple, automated method of picture and documentation management, which results in increased growth and higher productivity.

The NewsSuite Sport module provides league table management for all sports. As a standalone programme the sport module can be linked to various editorial systems, so that individual tables, results, table status or linked tables and previews can be imported directly into the latest sports reports and pages.

The NewsSuite Honorar fee accounting module is compatible with other related IPA products. It can be integrated into any editorial system that has the ability to read XML files. Honorar is a comprehensive fee accounting system that can calculate increasing numbers of multimedia tasks in addition to editorial texts and pictures. Tasks such as, internet research or calculating fees for an article that was only printed in part, or did not appear in the second edition due to breaking news are just a few of many examples of these tasks. Honorar can be controlled either manually or automatically. The NewsSuite MediaStore and E-Edition products are available as stand alone product applications that can be integrated into existing Editorial systems. NewsSuite runs on the latest Windows or Unix platforms.
