People Newspapers, Wexford upgrade with IPA

IPA Systems Limited are pleased to announce that an order has been placed by The People Newspaper Group, Wexford part of the Irish Independent Group for a major upgrade to their SalesWORKS, EditWORKS and production tracking system.

The core part of the upgrade is the replacement of the current server hardware with new PowerEdge Dell servers with increased storage, and the migration of both SalesWORKS and EditWORKS from Windows NT to MS-Server2003 and Sybase to MS-SQL 2000.

Another major part of the upgrade is the move from the current Advisor production advert tracking system to the IPA's Neptune, providing a cross-platform, multi-application, advert status driven production workflow system.

This upgrade follows the recently installed SalesWORKS Analysis & Budgeting Suite which consists of a combination of reports and applications providing categorised volume, yield and discount figures for given weeks, financial periods or year to date compared with last years figures, with the ability to filter by publication or publication groups so that business performance can be accurately measured based on data both current and historic. Actual revenue, volume and yields are compared against budgeted targets. These targets can be set individually for each category, publication for each week in the financial year. The budget can be defined as a percentage increase or decrease on last year's figures or calculated back to a percentage from a figure that is input. In the few months that this suite has been operational, Wexford People Group has been able to clearly identify business performance whilst producing financial and performance reports to the group structure.

The upgrade provides Wexford People Group with the correct platform for growth and prepares the system for future revisions of IPA software to be installed in the future.
