PrintExpress system at New Straits Times Press in Malaysia

The New Straits Times Press in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is upgrading its IPA PrintExpress system to utilise the latest developments in PDF Workflow and Production Tracking.

The original installation took place in 1998, it has been expanded a number of times prior to this latest upgrade.

The main editorial system in Kuala Lumpur has a PrintExpress system including RIPs, Page Pairing, Soft Proofing and printing to HP colour printers, it runs on Sun servers and utilises RSi auto-failover software.

There are four print sites all running Scangraphic Futuro News imagesetters, 12 in total, PrintExpress handles the distribution of the bitmaps and their assembly into pairs, with the addition of local page furniture for output.

One of the four sites also has a local RIPping facility and the ability to automatically receive and process Tiff files from the Financial Times for printing
